Who are you?
Hello! My name is Jacy. I recently graduated from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba, and am now working as a Pharmacist at the Portage District General Hospital and Notre Dame Hospital Pharmacy. I live in Winnipeg with my boyfriend Sam and our new kitten Mika (who is actually really a cat at this point)!
What is your current role with the organization and how did you get involved with The Dream Factory.
My friend’s sister was diagnosed with cancer at a very young age. The Dream Factory was able to fulfill her dream of going to Florida to swim with dolphins before she passed away, just a year and a half after she was diagnosed. I saw firsthand how The Dream Factory can benefit children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses and wanted to get involved with the organization myself. Being in university full-time for the past 5 years, and now working outside of the city full-time doesn’t make it easy to find the time to volunteer, but I try to help out with volunteer opportunities whenever I can!
What is your favourite thing about being involved with The Dream Factory?
Knowing what The Dream Factory is all about… knowing that their efforts have had such a positive impact on so many children and their families, who truly deserve to have their dreams come true.
What do you like to do when you are not volunteering your time with The Dream Factory?
I enjoy figure skating, camping, travelling, and being surrounded by my family and friends!
If you could have a dream come true….what would it be?
A realistic dream of mine is to – every day – be able to have a significant impact on the lives of the patients who I serve and will serve in the future, throughout my career as a pharmacist (which has really just begun)!
